Establishes quickly and helps suppress weeds. Buckwheat is a rapidly growing cover crop that will help reduce nitrogen losses.
Buckwheat is good to scavenge phosphate in the soil, which it can make available for subsequent crops after incorporation.
ACRES Scheme
- A mixture of at least two crops from the prescribed ACRES list must be sown.
- Buckwheat cover crops must remain in place until after 1 January.
