      Forage rye

      Extensive and deep rooting so excellent for soil conditioning. Forage rye is effective at reducing nitrogen leaching over the winter.

      Forage rye is also suitable for grazing in early spring. Forage rye provides a flexible sowing option after maize/cereals and can be grazed or zero grazed. 

      ACRES Scheme

      • A mixture of at least two ACRES crops from the prescribed list must be sown.
      • Forage rye cover crops must remain in place until after 1 January.
