We are proactively working to improve our environmental performance and communicate our commitment to our staff, customers and partners. We have partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain to measure and offset our carbon footprint, to become certified as a Carbon Neutral business.

Germinal’s GB and Irish operations are independently verified, demonstrating our contribution to carbon reduction across our entire business.

This status covers our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, which have been quantified and reported in accordance with ISO 14064-1:2018 and the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.

Our goal to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2040 means we will continue to measure the impact of reduction initiatives against our 2024 baseline audit.

Germinal and Germinal Horizon lead the Nitrogen Utilisation Efficiency-Legume (NUE-Leg) project, a £4.7m UK-based research initiative to optimise nitrogen from legumes to reduce emissions in grassland farming. Fundamental to the project will be climate smart technologies developed through innovative plant breeding at Germinal Horizon.

Germinal’s key role in the project demonstrates its long term commitment to sustainable food production through science, education and lasting impact for society and the environment.
