Germinal has formulated an approved mixture for the 2024 DAFM Red Clover Silage measure, giving you a high-production forage option for your livestock system.
This DAFM Red Clover Silage mixture contains top-performing grass and clover varieties to achieve high DM yields with no nitrogen input.
The grasses in this mixture are all Irish Recommended List varieties. This mixture is designed for organic systems, containing varieties with proven performance on Irish farms.

Sowing rate: 12 kg/acre
Sowing time: April-September
Sowing depth: 10-15 mm
Sowing instructions: Cultivate to achieve a fine, firm seedbed. Ploughing will help level rough fields. Sow in good conditions (warm with rain forecast), no deeper than 10-15mm. Roll well after sowing to ensure good soil/seed contact. Slurry and lime can be applied to correct pH levels.
After sowing: Monitor for pest attack and take mechanical action where necessary.
Grazing: Graze the new reseeds frequently and at low covers (<1200 kg DM/ha) to assist in tillering and help create a dense sward.
